PROGRESS! I can finally zip over my butt!

I have my first fitting today with a fancy schmancy seamstress. Possible ideas:

Lose wight and get an underskirt to plump up the bottom (I had a nightmare I broke my zipper with this scenario…)
Corset it with my underskirt to give extra room.
Corset and have them put TONS of layers underneath. Which is the most ideal scenario!

Wish me luck and positive vibes to a girl bringing in her black wedding gown……..

Thumbing through photos on Pinterest and found a girl wearing a black birdcage veil. Michael had said he liked them and I have always adored them. Only thing, I didn’t want to look “funeral-ish” with a black dress and veil.

I know Michael and my mom are on board with me, but what do you think?

Seating stress!

I am having a hard time even writing this post, just because it’s become such a drag, but I’ll give you the gist…

We are having about a bajillion guests. Well, more like 150-175, BUT STILL, it seems like the entire human population. We are having a casual feel for the reception and only having a handful of seated guests, cocktail tables, picnic tables (forced to use since they’re screwed into the ground…) and the low walls on the veranda with pillows and fabric.

Originally, the plan was to have guests take their chairs in to the venue after the outdoor ceremony to save on renting soooo many chairs! We are having enough room inside for about 90 guests but all I can envision is a cluster of people dragging too many chairs inside and not having a clue where to put them.

My solution is to rent/find some benches and have the chairs set up in the venue. Now comes the difficult task of finding the dang benches… I’m hoping with all my being my dad doesn’t have to build them… I know this is a long shot, but does anyone in the Midwest know of a rental company that does this?

Wedding Update!

Well, my floral consultation last week was a bit more of an overwhelming experience than I planned on! For those of you that don’t know, my florist is my ex-boss and helping me plan is my other ex-boss. My florist boss has been overly excited, and was definitely SPOT ON with all of my ideas and I honestly don’t have any concerns about not getting EXACTLY what I’ve pictured! But sitting down and having Ashley & Jen ask me “what about ____?”, I realized I’m WAY behind. I have been letting it overwhelm me rather than being excited. SO, I’m happy to say that I’m kicking wedding planning into overdrive!

Decisions Made:

Colors: Ivory, Blush, Grey, Minty Blue/Green.
Food: Small Stations/Heavy Appz. & Dessert BAR (You’ve no idea how excited I am for this and all the bite-size desserts we will be making!)
Seating: Mixed. Some large rounds & Cocktails. With kicking the plated dinner, we have the option of not making everyone have assigned seats. Also great for letting our guests mingle and let it be more relaxed!
Our cake table: Will have a ribbon backdrop (mixed thickness and colors from our palette) and my FIRST DIY aspect!
Alcohol: We were going to originally going to get Two Buck Chuck (bottles of wine for $2.99) but in talking to Jen, it’s almost more realistic to use boxed wine. NO SHAME! Also, Kegs will have to be purchased to stretch our budgets and the left overs could be used for some sort of after-party!
Beverages: Along with the standard beer, wine, and soda, we might be serving a drink on arrival for the guests before the wedding! Warm/chilled cider (possibly even Woodchuck Hard Cider) & bottled soda will be given out along with our wedding favors! (I’ll post a photo of them later. It was one of Michael’s decisions and a great gift for both our families!)
Photography: I talked to my future-sister-in-law, who is marrying Michael’s brother and she is using one of her friends for her wedding. I checked out her site and we both agreed that she is the absolute best fit for our style and budget! I’m so excited!

I’m going to be searching the web for DIY activities today and definitely am kicking this planning into overdrive!
